A Writer’s Tragedy – please help!
From Alesia
In the midst of packing and frantically finishing the book and sending out celebratory e-mails to so many of my friends, including THE AMAZING RITA-WINNING LANI!!!!, I received terrible news. A dear friend of the Literary Chicks, Marianne Mancusi, returned home from conference to find that lightning had struck her home while she was gone, and it burned to the ground.
She lost everything.
Luckily, her dog was staying with Marianne’s mom, so there is at least a silver lining there. But we at the Literary Chicks want to help in a BIG WAY! We’re hosting a BOOK DRIVE. One of a writer’s most important possessions is her library, so please help us help Marianne by setting aside a book or three from your own library that you can send to her. We’ll post a mailing addy in this space soon (as soon as she has one!).
Thank you for your compassion and help.
Hugs,
Alesia

Oh, my god, poor Marianne. Of course, I'll send her some books. What a horrible thing to have to come home to.

Oh, no WAY! Thank God her dog was safe and sound, but my heart goes out to Marianne. I'll definitely set some books aside. Thanks for letting us know.

How absolutely horrible! I have a bag of books I was planning to take to the used book store. Now they'll be headed in a different direction.
On another note -- Lani, it was a real honor to meet you in the bar at the Hilton.
