Happy Father's Day!!!
To all the fathers out there - today is YOUR DAY!!!
Today, I hope you:
Took a break from lawn mowing duties, and pretended not to notice if your wife tried to mow the lawn for you but she didn't actually realize that LAWN MOWERS take GASOLINE. [Which, if you ask me, is a dirty trick.]
Reigned over the remote controls to the TV, DVD player, stereo, and electrified LazyBoy recliner complete with built-in beer chest and mini-pizza oven, UNDISTURBED.
Looked at your kids and thought, I DID THAT, with overwhelming pride and satisfaction: Hey. I had a big part in making those lives happen. I did good.
Smiled and pretended that the bottle of Old Spice, or the hideous tie, or the knickknacky book on what happens to Old Golfers when their putters go limp was EXACTLY THE GIFT YOU'D ALWAYS HOPED FOR (remembering that one day these are the people who will have to change your Depends. mwah ha ha. "Old Spice THAT, Junior!!!)
And, all day long, felt appreciated. Because you are. And we love you.
Hugs and huge appreciation to my own Darling Navy Guy, who is clearly the best Dad in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE, and to ALL the Dads out there, from the Literary Chicks,
hugs,
Alesia, who knows her own dad is beating several angels at pool at this very moment

Happy Fathers Day to all those celebrating it over in the US.
Completely off topic, but I am so glad I found this site. I have now read my way through American Idle (laughed till I nearly peed about the airport scene), 32AA (fantastic), Ex and the Single Girl (blew me away) and Balancing in High Heels (think I need some of those butterflies occasionally) and am seriously looking for all the rest. Great books ladies.

Chez, it is never, EVER off-topic to tell authors that you enjoy their books. In fact, it should be an international holiday: Tell an author you appreciate her/him Day. LOL! THANK YOU!! As you may have noticed on my website, making people laugh until they nearly pee is one of my top 5 goals in life, right up there with forcing them to snort various foodstuffs from their noses. :)
hugs,
Alesia

My DH had to work on his special day, so I took him out to dinner at his favorite restaurant to make up for it. DD#1 and I came up with ideas for a card and she made it on the computer. It was cute, actually! I looked at the cards at the store and they were outrageously priced (I can't pay $5 for a piece of paper with some words on it...) and so we decided that we could come up with something MUCH better (and cheaper!) on our own. No gifts--the man seriously has everything. It's so freaking irritating! I've quit buying him things because I can't ever find anything he can use or wants. (sigh) I think I will help him buy the mats for the Corvette when he gets ready to get the new seat covers--he will appreciate that, but it's something he has to pick out himself...
