Leaving On a Jet Plane
Champagne? Why, yes, I'd love some champagne!
The best thing just happened to me. Better than selling my first book, better than getting married, better than having Sam.
George and I are going to London, and we got upgraded to first class, roundtrip.
FIRST CLASS!!!
And I didn’t even ask for it! I was just checking our reservation, and noticed that our seat assignment had been changed. Intrigued, I investigated, and found out that we’d been moved right out off Cattle Class and into what British Airways calls its Club World cabin.
Get this: the seats? Change into beds.
I’m so excited, I’ve watched the video demonstrating the seat-into-beds about a hundred times. Forget London. The flight is going to be the highlight of the trip. Hell, it might even get me over my intense airplane phobia.
Although I know it isn’t really rational – and, actually, pretty damn narcissistic – I’ve always secretly believed that the plane only stays up in the air because I’m willing it to do so. Which, as you might imagine, pretty much rules out my falling asleep en route.
But turn my seat into a bed??? I may have to take my chances, and actually get some sleep . . .
Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Most excellent, Whitney! I liked the demo for the entertainment screen, too. Especially the way you'll be able to swivel the tv screen around without knocking over your champagne glass.
Have fun!

Oh, wow! That made me want to immediately board a British Airways plane and start playing! I am immensely jealous, both of London and the flight! You do realize, don't you, that if the return flight isn't upgraded, you'll be miserable the entire way home!

That ROCKS!!! I always hope that will happen to me. The only time I've flown first class, I earned it, the hard way. We were stuck for 12 hours on the tarmac in Detroit during a freaking blizzard! First Class is tremendous, in comparison to sitting on top of one another in the back of the plane. I love the cushy seats! Enjoy your bed!!! :D

In response to Dia:
Yes, in fact she will be miserable on the way home, but she should be, right? I mean, what better way to remind her she's coming back to reality! :)

Can I just say how freakin excited I am to finally be holding your book in my hands?
Ok, I said it. I spent the past week reading "Pushing 30", "True Lies" and "She, Myself, & I". I was about to go postal if I couldn't get my hands on "Testing Kate". Now, I can relax and enjoy...
but not until tomorrow! I just got a call and have to head out to the hospital, friend is having a baby right now and I'm her doula. Ugh, I don't think I'm ever going to get to read this book!

Um, I believe Whitney said that they were upgraded for a ROUNDTRIP?!! She won't even talk to us when she gets back!! *grin* Have fun--hope London is fabulous! (sigh) Some day....

Aye! I didn't even see the ROUNDTRIP... eegads! I raise my glass of tepid water to you, Whitney! I hope it was wonderful and that reality didn't settle in until you had to face your dirty laundry.
