Potter Mania
The Summer of Harry.
I’m a Harry Potter fanatic. I’ve read each book multiple times, and listened to them even more times on CD. (For any fans out there who haven’t yet heard the books-on-CD version, read by the amazing and phenomenal Jim Dale, you must drop what you’re doing, and go hunt them down now.)
As I’m sure everyone now knows, the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series is being released July 21st . . . and I cannot freaking wait. As soon as I get that book in my hands, life is going to come to a screeching halt until I finish it. Deadlines, kids, husbands . . . they’re all going to have to go away for a few days, while I find out how the saga ends.
Here are the things I have to know (followed by my best guesses):
(1) Is Harry a horcrux?
Speculation over at mugglenet.com is that he is. I’m not so sure. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, since Voldemort was planning to murder Harry that night all those years ago, when Harry was still a baby. And once his attempt to kill Harry failed, Voldemort lost all his powers and turned into a weak wisp of vapor. How would he have created a horcrux in that state?
(2) Is Dumbledore really dead . . . or just in hiding?
I think he’s dead . . . in fact, I’m sure of it. Fawkes sang his lament, and left Hogwarts for good. And besides, Harry has to face Voldemort in their final battle to the death on his own . . . he can’t have Dumbledore hanging around ready to save him again.
(3) Is Snape really evil?
I’m 100% sure that Snape is a good guy, and that he killed Dumbledore on Dumbledore’s own orders. Why, I don’t know . . . but I’m sure we’ll find out in the next book.
I am pretty sure that Snape made an unbreakable vow to Dumbledore to protect Harry. But, if you remember, there has to be a third wizard present when the Unbreakable Vow is performed to act as the vow bonder . . . which means that someone out there, other than Snape and the late Dumbledore, knows about the bond . . .
(4) Who’s going to die in book 7?
Rowling has promised that at least two characters are going to die in book 7. A lot of people are expecting it to be Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. Others are betting on Lupin and Tonks.
Me? I’m worrying most about the Weasley twins. Maybe it’s just lingering trauma over the fate of the Tarleton twins in Gone with the Wind, but I think only one of the Weasley twins will live to the end. Call it a hunch.
So anyone else? Post all Potter speculation below!

Call me crazy, but I don't think Sirius is dead, and we should see him pop up in the final book. Falling through into an unknown place? It just screams comeback. No body; no murder.
I'm also in the camp that Dumbledore faked his own death, because he knows Harry has to do this one alone.
I don't even want to think about who's going to die. I just hope they're secondary characters or maybe Draco and his dad. Or maybe Snape. (I don't care if he's evil. I don't like him.) Brilliant marketing idea though - release just enough info to get readers freaked out.

Also a fanatic, but I'm trying not to speculate or read all the theories that are bouncing around. For this reason - I want the 7th book, but I do not want it all to end. Denial... I like it here.

I don't think Dumbledore is dead. The whole thing with the Phoenix and rising from the ashes . . . I just think he'll come back. I also think Snape is a good guy who could use some hygiene hints. Allan Rickman cleans up quite nicely in my opinion. A good shampoo and a nice cut and I'm sure Snape would look just as good as I think he might be.
As to who's going to die . . . I'm worried it will be Ron. I don't know quite why. Just a bad feeling. I've heard some speculation it will be Harry himself. I think there might be rioting in the streets over that.

I know this is still being debated, but if Harry is a horcrux, I pretty sure he'd have to die in order to defeat Voldemort.
JK Rowling has stated that Dumbledore is really dead. Although she has been known to be misleading in some interviews, I'm pretty sure this is correct as Dumbledore's spell on Harry ended once D was murdered and then his portrait did appear in the headmaster's office.
I'm still undecided about Snape. I want him to be a good guy, but we don't always get what we want, do we.
As for who will meet their end in book 7 -- I really wouldn't mind if Hagrid died. He's not a favorite of mine, but he is one of JKR's. I am starting to believe that Harry will die. Brits are not well known for happily-ever-after endings and I can definitely see this happening. If not Harry, then another near-and-dear character like Ron. I would hate it if Neville died. He's my favorite.

1) Not really sure about this one. I haven't given the horcrux issue much thought.
2) Much to my 13 year old daughter's trauma, I think you are right. I think he's dead. Harry really does need to stand on his own two feet with this one.
3) 100% agree.
4) Again I haven't given this one too much thought other than I do NOT see it as being either Harry, Ron or Hermione.
Hermione reminds me very much of my 13 year old. Ron is my personal favorite though.
Christina- I hope it isn't Neville either. He IS the one the Voldemort could have tried killing though.

LOL I have no idea what you are talking about, Whitney. :) Not a Harry fan over here but maybe one day...

I came into Harry-mania late, but I've seen the movies and read a couple of the books. Thinking its possible that Harry is one of deaths in book 7. It makes sense, ensuring that there is no possible way to go to a book 8 :) I'm iffy on Snape, he seems to have a tinge of good to him. So wouldn't be surprised to see him become one of the good guys. And Dumbledore faking his death would be an interesting twist though. Can't wait till July!

I forgot to mention: My hubby pre-ordered the special edition of Book 7 as my birthday present this year. He's the best!

If anyone is interested in seeing the Harry Potter tour bus that is going to cities across the country (Boston, NYC, DC, Chicago, Phoenix, San Diego, LA, San Fran, etc.), here is the link you can paste in your browser! (I wasn't sure if I could hyperlink it!)

I think Ron will turn out to be a Judas. I also think she might pull a Biblical ending on this, where Harry dies but then rises again.
I think Snape will turn out to protect Harry, and I think he will die for his efforts.
Can't wait to find out. I just bought the book that mugglenut.com put out.
